What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic an excellent amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences below. We prepare to check the brand-new version soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The all-foam Zenhaven consists mainly of latex, which is fundamentally durable. The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Firm side feels a bit firmer), which may prove useful if you’re not exactly sure what you choose or if your needs alter over time. This is not a conventionally cushy mattress, however it offers a supple cushion, good edge assistance, and a subtle springiness. Provided its innate toughness, the Zenhaven must work well for people who weigh more than 200 pounds.

We haven’t yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brand names. But we do know that the company uses thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (rather than fiberglass or chemicals) and just organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress companies, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spine assistance”; we’re less impressed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive client service and durable foams and coils.
