What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under three brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic an excellent quantity of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top includes softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

When their partner stirs may discover the Saatva transfers more movement than suitable, people who are quickly woken up People who like the hug of memory foam may not feel the Saatva adheres closely enough The Saatva’s comfort system uses thinner layers of foam than lots of hybrid models. Note: Saatva just recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now features Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the differences below. We prepare to evaluate the new version quickly and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is also flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Gentle Company side feels a bit firmer), which might prove useful if you’re not sure what you choose or if your needs alter over time. This is not a conventionally cushy bed mattress, but it offers a flexible cushion, excellent edge assistance, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for a number of weeks in my own house. These mattresses were also examined in our group tests carried out for Wirecutter’s guides to the best foam mattresses and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I have actually talked to ratings of specialists in the bed mattress industry and in materials science; gone to lots of bed mattress factories, shops, and display rooms; and read the fine print on requirements, service warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for numerous weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “environmentally friendly” brands. But we do know that the business utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (rather than chemicals or fiberglass) and only natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “optimal spine assistance”; we’re less impressed with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer support and durable foams and coils.
